Jeff Olson The Slight Edge
The Slight Edge contains a very important message for anyone aiming to build a successful home based business. It's about the power of taking small daily steps towards your goal - with time as your ally. It's a bit like the story of the hare and the tortoise. Consistent effort every day is much more likely to be successful than putting in a lot of time one day and doing nothing for the next ten. It may be difficult to see progress from one day's work, but the results will build over time. Another way of thinking about the power of time is the effect of a 30 day period when you start on day 1 with a single cent, and then double your money each day. On day 2 you double to 2 cents, day 3 to 4 cents, day 4 to 8 cents and so on. By day 30 the figure is over 5 million dollars! Having said that, the time frame for success in a home business is more likely to be three years then thirty days. I came across this book when I went to a network marketing national conference. The highest achievers in the company were on stage describing how they had achieved success. Story after story was about personal development, having the right mindset and the persistence needed. Jeff Olson's book was right at the top of their list of 'must read' books. Clearly you need to learn the specific steps that will help you build your home business. There's no point repeating the same major mistakes every day. But once you find the success formula you don't have to be brilliant. It's simply about persistence - keeping on going until you achieve your goal. The lesson is an important one. Remember - identify the right action (and hopefully this web site will help you), take small steps, make steady progress.
