Why Starting an MLM
Home Based Business Is Popular

Starting an MLM home based business is one of the most popular options for people interested in making extra money at home.

However, MLM - short for multi level marketing and also known as network marketing - is one of the most controversial small business ideas you can find.

On the one hand it is tainted with a hard to shake reputation of scams and pyramid schemes. On the other hand, it has been endorsed by many well trusted leaders in the field of business. Nowadays, in fact, there are strict legal rules that regulate MLM and properly authorised firms certainly do not run pyramind schemes.

An MLM home based business is suited to part time work, and with high potential residual income, it's easy to see why. Robert Kiyosaki has described these advantages in his book The Business of the 21st Century. He says that MLM is an ideal way to learn about business and, in doing so, to build your skills and develop your personal strengths.

From a personal viewpoint I have looked at building network marketing residual income and I do believe that it is a genuine opportunity - provided you carry out your research to find the best network marketing company to match your circumstances.

If you are not familiar with multi level marketing, I suggest you read Robert Kiyosaki's book. Also, I highly recommend Questions Are The Answers by Allan Pease for anyone who wants to improve their results in multi level marketing. You could also have a look at my article on the fundamentals of mlm home based businesses.

One important point is that network marketing is much more suited to part time rather than full time as a start up option. You need to look at a three year timeframe to start producing significant income although you can earn some extra money from the word go. The top earners can build very significant amounts of residual income - but this requires five to ten years hard work.

Also, this is a low cost start up business. When you do your research you should ideally find that you only need pay a low fee to the company in return for which you should receive full training plus initial marketing materials.

THE BIG CHALLENGE WITH NETWORK MARKETING

There are two ways you make money with network marketing: selling product and finding new distributors who sell product as part of your team.

There's no doubt that many people are open to giving network marketing a try as a home based business. The big challenge is to find these people.

One possibility is MLM lead generation online - with your own website. Have a look at some real life success stories of network marketers who have used this strategy.
