To Find Profitable Home Business Ideas

It's critical to understand the importance of marketing research if you're looking for profitable home business ideas. The decision about what you are going to offer your potential customers is probably the single most important step on your road to making extra money at home.

If you can identify a service or a product with high demand and low supply, you may be on your way to building a successful home based business.

Remember, you do not have to find completely unique business ideas. There may be other businesses already offering broadly the same product or service as you have in mind. However, your research may tell you that customers are not happy with their exact offering.

If the existing 'competitor businesses' are weak, there may well be room for you to do better. This is where you can apply a differentiation strategy. In other words you offer something different - something better.

But better from whose viewpoint? Not your's - that's the key. You may think you know, but this is the time to open your mind to new possibilities. Forget what you already think you know.

This is the importance of marketing research. You find out from the market - from your potential customers - what they like and don't like about existing suppliers. What's missing? What would people pay for - if only it was available?

If you find the answer - and if you offer the solution that customers really want and will pay for - you may have found your profitable home business idea.

Imagine how much easier it will be to build a successful home based business if you design a niche product or niche service that customers really want!

Now imagine the opposite. What if you really struggle to makes sales because you made the mistake of simply trusting your own opinion - and not the opionion of your potential customers?
