Online From Home

Learning how to earn residual income online is one of the biggest steps you can take towards achieving long term financial security. This is not a get rich quick idea but the potential is high - if you're willing to work at it.

Let me explain the basic idea. It is internet based and, in most cases, you need to create a web site - quite easy nowadays as there is web building software which is very easy to use - and effective in building web sites with the potential to make money.

Thousands of businesses worldwide have realised that they can sell more if they pay a sales or 'affiliate' commission to anyone who is willing to advertise their service or product. To make it easy, they even design the advertising for you and provide the crucial link code from your website to theirs. Generally you get paid if someone, who visits your website, uses the affiliate link and then buys something from the website owned by the other business.

When I first came across this idea I thought it was too good to be true. Indeed sometimes that is the case. On quite a few occasions I have joined affiliate programs and they just didn't pay off. But the affiliate model can work very well, and I find it quite amazing to receive money orders direct to my bank, or through the letter box from time to time, for sales commission from various companies.

That is the most usual way you can earn residual income online.

It sounds good - and it is good - but it needs work. Here's why. Imagine that your website is like a magazine. Other businesses are willing to place an advert in your magazine but you don't get paid at that stage. You only get money if your 'readers' contact these other businesses having seen their advert in your web site. And then they normally have to buy something from the other business before you earn an affiliate commission.

So, here are the steps you need to achieve.

First, you need to build your website and add the appropriate advertising. Second, you need to attract visitors to your web site who may be interested in the adverts. Third, your visitors need to be sufficiently interested to follow an advert and then to make a purchase.
