Comic Book Adventures Home Business

by Christian Kern
(New Jersey)

I have a home based business dealing in comic books. I worked in a down and out retail job for five years. One day I woke up and was tired of it, I wanted to do something I enjoyed and also could make money at. So I quit my job, inventoried my comic collection and started selling online and at conventions.

What I do is I sell comics of all ages and grades. I offer new releases to the public which I order every month through a wholesaler and I even buy comics from people. I go around on weekends up and down the East Coast doing comic conventions and selling comics.

Balance is everything with whatever you do from home. You don’t have the luxury of leaving work behind at the office. As this job of mine is my hobby sometimes these two conflict with one another. I find that sometimes you just have to shut the computer off and turn off the phone and just get away.

I am always willing to answer any questions about the comic industry in any fashion. Just visit www.championshipcomics.com and have a look around. Anyone who is really into superheroes can find that even buying and selling on the side of a full-time or part-time job can make you some extra cash.

Stuart's comment: Thank you Christian. Using a web site to sell comics is a great example of the power of the internet for home based businesses. Comics is a niche market with fans worldwide. Some of these fans may never travel to a convention near you, but your web site still enables them to buy from you.

This is also an interesting example of work life balance - combining your business with your hobby.
